The first chapter of Lubna Mansour case came to an end by the issuance of a death sentence of the murderer by Sharjah Federal Criminal Court of first instance as retribution ( qisas ) for the victim.

Today, on the 11th of July 2023, we, Abdullatif Aljassmi Advocates and Legal Consultants, witnessed the pronouncement of judgment in one of the most significant cases that has stirred public opinion in the country and beyond, and garnered the attention and emotions of everyone, in our capacity as the legal representatives of the parents of the deceased and for the civil rights claimants.It concerns the case of the accused, M.M.Y., who stands accused of the killing of his late wife, Lubna Mansour.

The facts of the case date back to the 24th of June 2022 in the Emirate of Sharjah, when the perpetrator, the husband of the victim, was observed hiding behind a car in the residential building parking lot of Lubna Mansour’s home. As soon as she exited the car, within 3 seconds, the assailant attacked her, stabbing her several times in the chest with a sharp knife. This resulted in severe injuries to the lungs, diaphragm, and a sharp fracture of the rib, causing bleeding in the chest cavity, leading to her death. The assailant then dragged her and placed her in the back seat of his car, driving to the Al Khan area, where he was apprehended by the police. He was found with the knife used in the crime, and the victim’s body was discovered in the back seat, covered in blood.

Confronted with the evidence, the criminal confessed to his heinous crime, claiming he was not in control of his actions under the influence of drugs. The court confirmed the perpetrator’s confession based on the forensic laboratory report from the surveillance cameras at the crime scene, which clearly showed the perpetrator’s actions in killing the victim. Additionally, the forensic analysis revealed that the criminal was using tramadol, with traces of it in his blood.

In the public session held on the 10th of May 2023, the murderer was brought from his detention, and the legal representative of the victim’s family, lawyer Abdullatif Aljassmi, requested retribution based on the family decision of rejecting the blood money ( Aldiya ).

Upon the abovementioned evidence, the incident facts became totally proved before the honorable Court totally. The court became sure of the responsibility of the accused for the crime, who admitted it before the police and the public prosecution as well.

In the public session held on the 24th of June 2022, tranquility prevailed in the courtroom before the judge began the judgment pronouncement with some Ayat of  Holy Qura’n “And there is for you in legal retribution [saving of] life, O you [people] of understanding, that you may become righteous.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, 179 ), the he pronounced the verdict ” The court has ruled, in the name of His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the State, to punish the defendant, M.M.Y, a Palestinian national, with the death penalty for his crime of killing the deceased, Lubna Waleed Mohammed Mansour, through the available legal means, in the presence of her parents or their legal representatives, and confiscate the weapons “.

From another side, Lawyer Abdullatif Aljassmi expressed his appreciation for the diligent handling of the case by the court, balancing the achievement of justice with enabling the defendant to use his legal right to self-defense. Despite the defendant’s admission of this heinous crime, it is essential to uphold the principles of procedural justice throughout all stages of the trial and investigation, side by side with the wise and just judgment in the matter.

With the aforementioned verdict, the curtain has been drawn on the first chapter of the case of the late Lubna Waleed Mohammed Mansour, and we await the remaining chapters of the lawsuit, seeking to the just retribution for the deceased, with the hope that this judgment will bring solace to the hearts of the bereaved family and parents of the late.
